The brief when developing the
system was to: -
- Develop a system that maintains
a constant power output
in line
with the engine manufacturers’ original
specification
no matter what concentration
of LPG is used.
- Control the system using the
same sensor points as the
engine
manufacturer.
- Electronically control diesel
flow as well as gas.
- Design the system to cope with
the rugged environment of
a diesel
engine bay.
- Design the system to shut down
should any fault occur without
prejudicing
the normal operation of the vehicle.
- Price the system to repay its
capital cost within 100,000 miles
or 160,000 kilometres of normal
operation.
- Maintain or better Euro 4 standards
of exhaust emission.
The LPI system meets all these
objectives.
