Placement of sites within the FREE (organic) sections of the major search engines is becoming more difficult (but not impossible) as time goes on, because of the sheer number of sites now going live worldwide every day.

Guide for choosing your search terms

Your search term(s) should try to match what a potential customer might use to find your TYPE of product or service! This will make your listings relevant for your customers (and make Google very happy).

Including a geographical "limiter" within a search term can significantly improve your chance of a high ranking. consider if being ranked highly in your town or area is more beneficial than a possibly much lower ranking nationwide or worldwide. Being number one on Google worldwide is always preferable but be realistic in your expectations.

Ask a few of your friends what they might use as a search term to find your TYPE of business, this free market research could pay dividends.

Try a few searches on Google using the search term you are considering to see if your main competitors are listed, if they are, the term is probably a good one to choose.

Google (and other engines) treat plurals / mis-spels as DIFFERENT words. so if your chosen search term was "emergency plumber bristol" your site will probably NOT be listed highly if someone searches with "emergency plumbers bristol". Use of plural term is best as a rule.

If you feel your placement(s) are either; delayed unduly or not ranked highly, you can request site re-submission and / or changes to your chosen search term(s) at any time during the hosting period.
